The CCB Young Child Supplement (CCBYCS) offers up to four tax-free payments in 2021 for families with children under the age of six to help pay for a variety of expenses. Families may be eligible for $1,200 per child under the age of six.

Who can get the CCBYCS?

You must be eligible for Canada Child Benefit (CCB) for a child under the age of six in January, April, July or October 2021 to receive CCBYCS.

An amount to pay for the month of January, April, July, or October if the child is under the age of six at the beginning of that month.

for example:

  • If your child turns 6 in January 2021 and qualifies for a CCB for that child, they are eligible for CCBYCS for that child before January 2021, but not later.
  • If your child is born anytime in January 2021, you are not eligible for CCB for that child in that month. As a result, you will not be eligible to receive the CCBYCS quarterly payment for that child in January 2021. However, you may be eligible to pay in April, July, and October 2021.

You do not need to register to receive CCBYCS. However, you and your spouse or domestic partner must file 2019 and 2020 income and benefit tax returns to receive the payments to which you are entitled.

If you qualify for a CCB in January 2021 for a child under the age of six, you can expect to receive:

CSA recipients will also receive a matching CCBYCS payment of $300 for each child under the age of six for whom the CSA is paid.

CRA Payments

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) makes CCBYCS payments. These payments are issued separately from the CCB payments you received. If you have not received your payment by the expected payment date, please allow 10 business days before contacting the entity. If your situation changes, let the CRA know as soon as possible. Your payments may stop if you don’t notify the CRA.
